[Character Name]: Yuna
[Series Title]: Final Fantasy X
[Point in Canon you're Taking your Character From]: Yuna has decided to marry Seymour in an attempt to convince him to confess the muder of his father and turn himself over to Yevon's judgment. A battle ensues, wherein Seymour dies but she is unable to send him.

[Brief Description of their Personality]: Yuna is a complicated young woman, though to most she gives the appearance of a steadfast, responsible, unfailingly kind person. She is all of these things, having dedicated herself from a young age to the better good of the people of Spira by her decision to become a summoner. She takes responsibility very seriously, and would never go back on her word once she's given it; consequently, she's very careful not to make promises that she can't keep, and to make sure that she knows the full extent of what she's committing herself to before she'll agree. Still, she has a soft heart, especially for people in need, and it's not very difficult to persuade her to lend a hand.

Though possessing a quiet, deep reserve of strength, Yuna has been known to overextend herself, both physically and emotionally, perhaps because she has such a strong spirit. She doesn't like to admit defeat, and would sooner sacrifice her own comfort or feelings than see someone else suffer. She's kindhearted and compassionate toward people regardless of where they come from or what they look like, and people have taken advantage of her for this in the past. She realizes it's happening, though the common misconception is that she is too innocent and pure to know when others have bad motives, but this isn't true at all. Yuna knows how the world works and she can recognize that everyone has dark, selfish parts to themselves, she just chooses to look for, and nurture the good in herself and others.

However, Yuna is more than capable of standing up for herself when she feels that things have gone too far. She can be incredibly stubborn; once she's made up her mind to do something, Yuna will see it through to the end. She isn't loud or flashy about her actions, but nevertheless she will remain firm despite most attempts to sway her from a chosen course of action. It's not that she's unwilling to compromise or hear other people's opinions, and she is very grateful for the concern and affection of others. It's just that Yuna carefully considers every major decision before she makes it, and so it takes quite a bit to change her mind.

There's a part of Yuna that yearns to just be a normal young woman, but she's learned to bury it along with most of her childhood wishes because it simply isn't practical. However, though she does literally intend to martyr herself through her quest to subdue Sin, she shoulders the burden quietly and prefers not to talk about it or expound in great length upon that aspect of her life.

[Brief Description of their History]: Yuna has always had a lot to live up to, as her father was High Summoner Braska, the man who brought the calm to Spira ten years prior. When her parents first met, he was a priest of Bevelle and traveled to the Al Bhed's Home in hopes of forming a bond between the Yevonites and the Al Bhed. While there, he fell in love with the leader's sister and they married. For this, he was cast out of the clergy and his wife was disowned. Shortly after Yuna was born, her mother boarded a ship in an attempt to make amends with her family, but the ship was attacked and she was killed.

Her father's decision to become a summoner would become a very influential part of Yuna's childhood. She was seven years old when her father began his pilgrimage, and though she had lived in Bevelle up to that point, after her father sacrificed his life for Spira, she was taken to the island of Besaid by a Ronso warrior named Kimahri. She met and befriended two of the local inhabitants, Wakka and Lulu, and they became so close that she considered them family.

Yuna grew up with a great respect and love for her father, and she decided to become a summoner to follow in his footsteps and bring peace to Spira as he had. Though Wakka and Lulu tried to change her mind, they eventually came to terms with her decision and agreed to be her Guardians. She began preparing herself physically and emotionally for what she knew would be a long, difficult journey, with Wakka and Lulu as her support.

[Roleplay Samples]:

[first person]

I... This place is very strange, isn't it? I don't remember how I got here... The last clear memory I have is going to sleep last night, thinking about tomorrow, and then I was here. Everyone has been kind so far, but I have a terrible headache, and I'm not certain where to go from here.

Is it possible that this is part of the Trials? It seems so odd, but perhaps I'm being tested. So far, it seems like a dream. I've been given a room with wonderful furnishings, it seems my clothing is here for my convenience, and no one has been anything but kind. But that could be just the point... distracting me from my purpose. If this is part of the Trials, I'll simply have to move forward.

I don't like being separated from Wakka and Lulu... I hope they're all right. I'm sure we'll meet along the way. For now, I should explore the village a bit and see if I can find the right path.

[third person]

Bringing a hand up to her forehead, Yuna applied gentle pressure and closed her eyes, trying to will her headache into submission. Though she'd been in her hotel room for about a hour, it seemed the intensity of the ache behind her eyes wasn't going to fade. She was beginning to wonder if she would have to go through the entire Trial in this condition. If she was even being tested; it all felt so much like a dream, and there were so many things she didn't recognize.

Stepping out onto the balcony, she walked to the edge and gripped the railing lightly, mismatched eyes scanning the horizon. It seemed she had been taken to a village that the Al Bhed had constructed, filled with enormous buildings that choked the skyline. She'd never seen a place like this, and it left an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. She wanted the ocean, the sand, familiar things.

But that was childish. Soon she would be embarking on her greatest journey, her only journey, and she wouldn't have the luxury of what she'd known all her life. Perhaps... That was her largest obstacle to overcome. She had to let go and give herself wholly, freely, to her mission.

Closing her eyes, she felt the wind caress her face, lifting her hair and cooling her headache. She would give herself just a moment more, just enough time to gather her resolve, and then she would travel down into the grey streets and see what she could make of it.
